Innocent Lost
By: Mikaela A. Lopez
Late one night, as I was sitting out on the sandy beach
I started to think of days gone by, of days when I held you dearly in my arms
Days when we use to walk along the beach, as I held your sweet tender hand
We would talk all about all of life’s wondrous beauty, like the beauty of the setting sun
Yet none of the world’s greatest beauty could ever compare to you, nothing was as beautiful as your sweet angelic face
Remembering when I use to look into your innocent eyes, as they gleamed with such beauty
As it turns into a face, a face now tainted with tears
Tears I never meant to make you cry, cry for the lost of this sweet innocent love affair
A love affair that was once simple and pure, now a love that is shattered and torn
